What's sold
Almost all lots come from Dutch bankruptcy sales (faillissementsveilingen) held for curators. You will find office and ICT equipment, shop fittings, forklifts, compressors, vans, trucks, cars and some odd items. It is a small firm running about 15 auctions a year, and the site is only in Dutch.
Who can bid
- Private buyers: You must be 18 or older and legally able to contract. Any country is accepted and no deposit is needed. You must show ID on request, and De Kok may check registers or ask for proof of creditworthiness (kredietwaardigheid).
- Businesses: The same rules apply, plus your company name, KvK number and VAT number (BTW-nummer). Whether a foreign EU business gets a 0% VAT invoice is not confirmed.
Registration
- Open the registration form and pick private (Particulier) or business (Bedrijf).
- Fill in name, address, country, phone and email, plus company details if relevant.
- Click the email link to activate your account; you cannot bid before this.
- Book the viewing slot by email if the auction requires it.
- Provide ID or proof of creditworthiness if De Kok asks.
- Report any later changes to your details in writing.
Fees and real total cost
| Fee | Amount | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Buyer's premium (opgeld) | 16% of hammer | Same in every sampled auction; terms allow another rate if announced in advance |
| VAT (BTW) | 21% on hammer and premium | Margin-scheme lots (margeregeling): VAT on the premium only |
| Handling, lot, loading or payment fees | None mentioned | |
| Storage after missed pickup | Not confirmed | At your cost and risk |
| Late payment | Statutory interest + 3% or 1% a month, plus 15% collection costs (minimum EUR 250) |
Worked example for a lot with regular VAT:
| Step | EUR |
|---|---|
| Hammer price | 1,000.00 |
| Premium 16% | 160.00 |
| VAT 21% on hammer | 210.00 |
| VAT 21% on premium | 33.60 |
| Storage | not confirmed |
| Total paid | 1,403.60 |
The total excludes storage and transport. On a margin-scheme lot, the same hammer price costs EUR 1,193.60.
How bidding works
- Every bid is binding and cannot be withdrawn (onherroepelijk). Bids exclude premium and VAT.
- Whether proxy or maximum bidding exists is not confirmed. Lot pages only show the minimum next bid.
- Increments are not published. Observed steps range from EUR 2 on cheap lots to EUR 250 above EUR 10,000.
- All lots start closing at 19:00 Dutch time. Any bid in the last 5 minutes adds another 5 minutes, repeatedly. Lots without bids stay open 30 minutes longer.
- Pages do not update live, so refresh yourself during the close.
- No reserve is shown, but a sale stands only once De Kok accepts your bid (toewijzing). It can refuse bids without reasons. The second-highest bidder stays bound until pickup day.
- If a combination lot (combinatiekavel) reaches the sum of the single lots plus 10%, all single-lot bids lapse. Release from a mistaken bid is at De Kok's discretion.
Watch out
- De Kok and the seller may bid and there is no public bid history, so fix a limit and keep to it.
- Lots are sold as seen (voetstoots) and photos can mislead; attend viewing and read the PDF catalogue.
- Vehicle mileage is only as read from the dashboard (afgelezen); MOT (APK) is often expired and keys may be missing.
- You must dismantle and remove goods yourself within a 1–3 hour slot, so arrange transport before bidding.
- You buy from a bankrupt estate: assume no withdrawal right and nobody to claim against.
Verdict: Fees are clear and payments go to a separate client-money foundation, but there are almost no reviews to check. Inspect first, bid only to your limit and collect in person.
