What's sold
ClicPublic sells goods on behalf of bankruptcy trustees (curateur), bailiffs (huissier) and banks. Most sales come from bankruptcies (faillite), bank seizures (saisie bancaire) and judicial liquidations (liquidation judiciaire). Expect catering equipment, tools, office furniture, IT, cars, vans, trucks, trailers and small excavators.
Who can bid
- Private buyers: You must be at least 18. ClicPublic may check your identity against external databases and records your IP address. You cannot bid on bank-seizure lots marked "Vente réservée aux assujettis". No deposit is normally asked, but some sales may demand a bank guarantee (garantie bancaire). Allowed countries are not confirmed.
- Businesses: Register as Indépendant or Société, give your company number and declare that you are VAT-registered (assujetti). This unlocks bank-seizure lots. The bank guarantee rule also applies to you. Allowed countries are not confirmed.
Registration
- Open the sign-up form and pick Particulier, Indépendant or Société, plus your VAT status.
- Fill in your name, address, country, date of birth, phone, mobile and email.
- If you are a business, add your company number and VAT number.
- Activate the account through the link sent by email.
- Log in and read each sale's specific conditions (conditions spécifiques), visible to members only.
- Check your details before bidding, as the invoice uses the data on file at the time of the bid.
Fees and real total cost
| Fee | Amount | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Buyer's premium | None separate | The sales fee is already included in your bid |
| VAT | 21% of the bid | Some lots carry 17% Luxembourg VAT; the lot page shows the total |
| Handling or dismantling | Not confirmed | Check the conditions spécifiques |
| Payment fees | None stated | Pay by Bancontact or bank transfer |
| Storage | EUR 20 per day for vehicles up to 3.5 t; EUR 5 per pallet | Only for goods kept at ClicPublic's premises; time unit for pallets not confirmed |
| Late payment | 10% yearly interest plus 15% of the invoice, minimum EUR 100 | Collection costs are added |
Worked example:
| Step | EUR |
|---|---|
| Hammer price (bid) | 1,000.00 |
| Buyer's premium | 0.00 (included in bid) |
| VAT 21% | 210.00 |
| Other fees | Not confirmed |
| Total paid | 1,210.00, excluding any extra sale fees, transport and labour |
On a lot with 17% Luxembourg VAT, the same bid costs EUR 1,170. An EU business abroad with a VAT exemption still pays EUR 1,210 up front and only gets the VAT refunded after sending the required documents.
How bidding works
- Place either a fixed bid (enchère fixe) or a maximum bid (enchère max); with a maximum bid the system bids for you up to your limit.
- Increments are not published. Observed steps range from EUR 5 on cheap lots to EUR 100 between EUR 1,100 and 2,000.
- Any bid in the final 5 minutes adds another 5 minutes, with no limit. Lots close in staggered blocks during the evening.
- Each bid is binding. You cannot reduce or withdraw it.
- Each win is provisional. The seller has 2 working days to accept and may refuse "for good cause", even above the reserve.
- If bidding stays below the reserve price (prix de réserve), the seller can still award you the lot, and you are bound to buy.
- In global-lot sales (lot global), a bid for the entire sale can cancel your individual wins.
Watch out
- Miss the fixed pickup date and you lose the goods but still owe the money; get any new date in writing and still treat the original one as binding.
- There is no warranty and no right of withdrawal; buyers report non-working cars and items that differ from the description.
- Nothing is provided on site and shipping is not offered, so bring tools, lifting gear, helpers and transport.
- Vehicles often come without a roadworthiness test (contrôle technique), certificate of conformity or papers.
- Support is hard to reach, and a single late payment can block all your accounts.
Verdict: You know the price up front, bid plus VAT, but you carry all the risk on condition and collection. Only bid once you have viewed the lot and secured the pickup day.
